KUCHING: In line with Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) and being a digitalised state, the government must aim to modernise service delivery.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said by doing so, it would allow the people to experience a more accessible service delivery that is both effective and efficient.

“I am glad that Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) already has a solid platform and ecosystem of innovation where its creativity has been recognised internationally at Commonwealth level.

“This ecosystem was established to ensure continuation of excellence in service delivery at all levels from the top management until the support group at the ground level to address multiple levels of issues and challenges.”

He said this when officiating at the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA) 2020 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching today.

Abang Johari said to date, there had been 649 ICC Innovative and Creative Circle (ICC) initiatives introduced by these ICC groups.

“Of the total, there were 16 innovations initiatives being recognised and awarded at the international level at International Convention Quality Control Circle (ICQCCs) over the last 10 years.

“I am proud that these ICC innovations solutions have been contributed by our support groups at the ground level. Indeed, you have done great job in contributing to continuously improve your service delivery.”

He hoped that the culture be continued and all department heads continue to back their ICC teams.

“Therefore, I would like to pose this new challenge to all of you — that these citizen-centric innovative solutions be further developed, replicated and improved.

“I firmly believe that as governments modernise service delivery, citizens will experience more effective, efficient service delivery with easier access,” he said.
